Disney Movies - Days 44-46
This should be an easy catch up for the weekdays. On Monday, I technically only watched one Disney movie, Princess of Thieves. I've always loved this movie and not just because it's got a young Stephen Moyer in it. I'm not really a Keira Knightley fan, but this is when she was really young and she wasn't as rail-thin as she is now, she had a bit of meat on her bones and she looked so much prettier. And I also really like the thought of Robin Hood's child falling for the son of Richard The Lionheart. I, of course, couldn't find a trailer, but there are a lot of YouTube posts of the full movie.
The ending always leaves me hanging a bit too much though (because it doesn't end the way I want it to), so I always watch Prince Valiant afterwards. I know it's not a Disney movie, but I have always loved it for some reason and it also has a young Stephen Moyer in it (when I really liked him, before True Blood ruined him for me). And it's the only movie you'll ever catch me shedding a tear for Katherine Heigl. I couldn't find a clip of it either, but I did find a pretty good fan video.
Of course, this one doesn't count on my totals.
Tuesday also welcomed two movies, but a bit more varied. I decided since I mentioned several days ago about The Sorcerer's Apprentice being crap that I should give it another chance. I originally saw it in the theater and condemned it to crap-status then, but, of course, I bought the DVD and watched it again to make sure I didn't miss something...nope, still crap. It's been sitting on my shelf until Tuesday night. I tried to watch it with an open mind, but nope, still utter horse crap! At least they tried to do the mop scene properly and it's probably the only part that doesn't suck, but the rest of it...ugh. I absolutely adore King Arthur/Merlin legends (obviously so if I like Prince Valiant, which a lot of people consider crap so I guess crap is subjective), but it just didn't work here. It's one of the things that worry me most about the next season of Once Upon A Time since they are heading in the same direction with the Sorcerer's Apprentice being the apprentice of Merlin. Those are two sorcerer's that really should be kept separate.
I went in a different direction for the second film, Enchanted. I have a love/hate relationship with this movie. The first hour or so is needed to set up the magical 30 final minutes of the movie, but the first hour is so boring to me, it's hard to hold my attention. I did actually ended up rewinding back to chapter 15 and watch from there to the end about four times after I finished. It really is a gorgeous movie at that point on.
But again, the animation at the front part literally makes me want to scream at the screen! It's HORRIBLE!
For quite some time, Narissa's dress was on display at Disney World and it was so tiny in person, but it was absolutely gorgeous and I used to stare at it forever. It's just a shame they have closed that exhibit after the Backlot Tour at Disney's Hollywood Studios...they have been some great things in there throughout the years and it was far more interesting than the ride itself.
There was one short on this disc, Pip's Predicament, A Pop Up Adventure and it was pretty cute!
Wednesday night, I only watched one, Darby O'Gill And the Little People. I've always loved this movie too for many reasons, including the fact that even though Sean Connery is a fine looking older man, he was downright gorgeous as a young man.
